Connecting your Distilled data warehouse to Sisense.

Below is a step-by-step guide on connecting your Distilled data warehouse to the business intelligence tool, Sisense, using the available connection string in your Distilled account. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for establishing a connection between the two systems, allowing you to extract live data, and valuable insights. Whether you are a data analyst or a business intelligence professional, this guide will provide you with all the information you need to set up the connection and begin using Sisense to analyze your data.

Sisense enables quick and easy access to databases, tables, and views contained within your Distilled database.

To add data from PostgreSQL:

Step 1: In the Data page, open or create a new data model.

Step 2: In the data model, click . The Add Data dialog box is displayed.

Step 3: Click PostgreSQL to open the PostgreSQL settings.

Step 4: Enter the following details:

  • Location: Enter the address of the remote server (host:port) of the database.
  • Database Name: Enter the name of the default database you’ll use for authentication.

*Note: to find your database name and port details, access your Distilled account and navigate to Analyze > Fetch your data and use the connection string details

Step 5: Select the database now and click . A list of tables in the database is displayed. All tables and views associated with the database will appear in a new window.

Step 6: From the Tables list, select the table or view you want to work with. You can click
next to the relevant table or view to see a preview of the data inside it. When you select the table or view, two new options are displayed at the bottom of the list, Import Relationships and Add Custom Table Query (Live models) or Add Custom Import SQL (for ElastiCubes).

(Optional): By default, existing relationships between tables are automatically replicated in the Live model or ElastiCube. You can disable this by toggling the Import Relationships switch.

(Optional):

    1. Live: Click + to customize the data you want to access with SQL. See Creating Custom Live Table Queries for more information.
    2. ElastiCube: Click + to customize the data you want to import with SQL. See Importing Data with Custom Queries for more information.

Step 7: After you have selected all the relevant tables, click Done; the tables are added to your schema in Sisense.

*Note: Sisense may ask you to Whitelist several IP addresses. To do this, navigate to Analyze > Fetch your data > Add IP

Place the provided IP addresses in the correct fields inside of Distilled.
